Hi bookwoms! I've come up with a variety of ways you can organise your books. Happy Reading! - Lee 1. Genre Organising your books by genres and/or subgenres is good, as when you are in the mood for a certain type of book (e.g. fantasy, dystopian, contemporary, etc.) you can easily locate those books or know what options you have for books in the genre. Arranging your book by genre also allows you to see what type of books you have, for instance you may have too many fantasy books and not as many romance books in comparison, and this allows you to cut down on some fantasy books and start investing more in romance books to add to you your collection. 2. Author If, like me, you have a large collection of different books and series by the same authors you can arrange them together. 3. Alphabetically Sorting your books alphabetically by author or by title is a great way to organise your books, organising your books this way is especially handy when you have a large collection of books as it makes books easy to locate if you’re after a specific title or author. 4. Colour Organising by colour is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, however it can make it hard to locate books by a certain author or that a part of a series as they would be scattered throughout your shelves. Arranging your books by colour is a great idea if you have a smaller assortment of books, as it is still easy to find books. Also if you are the type of person to only read a book once, you can do this too as once you have read a book you won’t have to go looking for it again in your beautifully coloured bookshelf. 5. Read and TBR
Ordering your books this way is very helpful as it allows you to see what books you have read and what books you haven’t. Sorting your books this way also helps you to determine if you are buying too many books and not reading them (I raise my hand to doing this!). This allows you to see if you are buying more books then you can read. 6. Chronologically Grouping your books chronologically is a fun way to organising you books, as it allows to you see what era books are set in. Such as, ancient Greece to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance era, the 18th century, to the present and future. You can also order them chronologically from when you got the book or first read them. E.g. start with books you read from your childhood and end with books you most recently read. The typical way to order books chronologically is by ordering the first to last book in a series, left to right. 7. Frequency You can also organise your books by how often you read or use them, placing the ones you only read once/rarely read on the top, and the ones you find yourself reading more often or your TBR pile on the bottom where it is more accessible. 8. Combo I personally prefer to use this method, as I use a combination of the different methods listed above to organise my books. This method allows you to customise your bookshelf to your liking, and you don’t have to stick to one method when it comes to organising your books.

Ah! I just came from your instagram (Which I love) and I have to say this is such a helpful post, I always find it so hard to organise my bookshelf! At the moment mine is just ordered by size, alphabetically and then I have a separate shelf for all of my tbr but in the future I will definitely be re-organising it so this is so helpful :)
