I've enjoyed quite a few young adult books in the past, and decided to share a few of my favourites with the bookish community. Happy Reading! - A The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa This is a series that is ridiculously under hyped and deserves so much more recognition. If you want a really interesting, face-paced trilogy about a post apocalyptic world run by vampires, then I definitely recommend giving The Blood of Eden trilogy a shot. Rating: 3.5/5 Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow It has been such a long time since I read this… It’s probably time for a reread. I do think about this series often though, as I loved the story line and how well it was written. The main character Dru was kickass. This series really stands out among other books about vampires. There are 5 books in the series, and aren’t ridiculously lengthy. Rating: 4/5 Penryn and The End of Days by Susan Ee This is definitely one of my favourite trilogies of all time. However, there isn’t anything astoundingly unique about it. It has a generally interesting storyline that is easy to keep up with, a relatable and kickass main character and Raffe. Raffe is so perfectly imperfect and one of my top book boyfriends. Overall, a really enjoyable read that was very well written. Rating: 4.5/5 The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater I can’t speak for the entire series, as I’ve only read the first book, but the first book was really enjoyable. It was one of those books that are really difficult to put down, so I managed to finish it in one sitting. Really interesting characters, and an intriguing storyline. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in The Raven Cycle series. Rating: 4.5/5 The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater There is just something about Maggie Steifvater that makes her stand out among other young adult authors. I’ve read quite a few of her novels and have loved all of them. There is something really unique about her characters, writing, and story lines. I finished this trilogy a few years ago, and it still sticks with me today. It made me laugh and cry. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. This is a trilogy I will read over and over without getting sick of it. Rating: 3.5/5 The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin I’ve only read the first book in this trilogy, and it left me sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. It was such an interesting concept, and Michelle Hodkin is a great author. Definitely check out this book if you’re into a young adult story that’s a bit different from the rest. Rating: 3.5/5 Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas This is probably one of my favourite series of all time. It’s very evident that such thorough planning has been put into Throne of Glass, and it really shows as the storyline progresses. I could connect with a lot of characters in ToG, the storyline was interesting throughout all of the books, and in my opinion the plot twists and cliffhangers in general made it a lot more enjoyable. There are so many loveable characters in the books. My personal favorites are Aedion, Rowan and Dorian. I’m really looking forward to reading the final book, Empire of Storms, to find out how this amazing series concludes. Rating: 4.5/5 Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard I was interested in this book as soon as I came across it on Goodreads, and counted down the days until it was finally released. Unfortunately, this book took me a while to get through, as it started off a bit slow, but once I got through the first 100 or so pages, the storyline really picked up and I found myself unable to put down the book until I had finished it. I loved the entire concept of Red Queen, and the plot twist was so unexpected, but just made the storyline even better in my opinion. I feel a bit hesitant to read the second book, Glass Sword, as I’m honestly not sure how the rest of the storyline will pan out and Red Queen left me feeling a bit apprehensive. Rating: 3.5/5
